A Talk by Sophie Glover from Makers HQ

Studio AM attended a great event to connect with fellow businesswomen and hear from inspirational female speakers. Run by Millfields Trust and Social Enterprise Mark CIC the guest speaker was Sophie Glover, Studio

During a career in fashion that has taken her all around the world, Sophie has been involved in the manufacture of garments worn by fashion icons including Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama and Kate Moss. She has been interviewed by the BBC and Financial Times is an authority on UK fashion manufacturing.

The many faceted layers of Sophie’s career story are inspirational, as is her commitment to social enterprise in the fashion industry, creating jobs and providing work opportunities through the Makers HQ sampling studio in Plymouth. All profits from this are reinvested into the provision of training and education programmes focussing on engaging and up-skilling the local community to support progression into education and employment within the fashion and textiles sector.

Sophie asked the question: What does a successful woman look like?

The conclusions that came from the talk were invaluable in business and in all aspects of life...Practice what you preach. Go above and beyond. Earn the respect. Be excellent in what you do.
